John (JD) Davidson founded Acuity Surgical along with Bryan Cowan . Their unwavering commitment to support spine surgeons and their patients with premiere lumbar, cervical and biologic evidence-based systems is grounded in the pair’s “shoulder-to-shoulder” philosophy.
Davidson’s passion for helping surgeons deliver the best patient experience and outcomes has been proven many times during his tenure in the medical implant business. Having served surgeons for more than a decade, Davidson’s roles include sales, development and design of medical systems for Nuvasive, Johnson & Johnson and others.
As Johnson & Johnson’s director of surgical innovations, Davidson rolled-out a new surgical technique that helped spine surgeons enhance their care of lumbar surgery patients. Prior to this, Davidson was Nuvasive’s leading spine surgery specialist managing hundreds of spine surgery cases each year.
Davidson earned both a Bachelor of Science in human biology and a Bachelor of Arts in anthropology from the University of Kansas. He also participated in the McNair Scholars Program.
How does John (JD) serve spine surgeons and their care teams?
Patients have a real friend in JD as we like to call John. He’s very clinical yet thinks of the patient as if they were a family member. He relentlessly peels back the onion to understand the opportunities for our products to promote “good medicine.” Then, he applies this to figure out ways our products can enrich quality patient outcomes – reduce anesthesia; increase functional mobility early-on; etc. Bryan Cowan, Acuity Surgical, Founder
In his free-time, Davidson enjoys spending time with his children, Sawyer & Vivienne. You may also find him wake surfing at the lake, coaching youth wrestling or riding horses with Vivienne. Bird hunting and dirt bike riding with friends as well as DIY home projects also occupy his free time.
